Lent Devotion | Day 22
We live in a time where truth is up for debate. This prayer from Jesus in John 17, in which he recounts the story of God and prays for believers to be united, prompts us to ask: How will we respond to that debate? Will we follow our culture’s lead by arguing and striving to acquire more power than those we disagree with so we can rule over them? Or will we follow Christ’s example, valuing God’s love above all else and remembering the way of Christ? Will we choose to live humbly, to strive for unity, and remain focused on our mission to serve the world?
Lent challenges us to reflect upon what idea of truth we’ve been following and invites us to reorient ourselves toward what is most true – God’s love and our call as believers to embody that love in our lives.
