Lent Devotion | Day 3

Joel 2:14 (NIV)
Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing—
grain offerings and drink offerings for the Lord your God.

The prophet Joel is writing to a people who are enduring a swarm of locusts. Joel calls the people to repent and turn to God who is gracious and merciful. God acts according to his will and ultimately God does remove the locusts and restores the land.

While we are not guaranteed that God will take away the chaos or struggles in our lives, we are guaranteed of the hope found through Jesus’ death on the cross. It’s during Lent that we can prepare our heart for Jesus’ death, the ultimate act of sacrifice for us.

In what ways do you need to prepare your heart today?
