Lent Devotion | Day 16

Psalm 42:2 (NIV)
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Often, we misalign our true need for God and instead “thirst” for something, or someone else to fill that longing. The temptation to convince ourselves that we just need more work, more rest, more travel, or more money is incredibly easy to fall into.

However, on the other side of our deviant priorities we eventually find ourselves running on empty fumes. When our soul, or body “thirsts” is often when we fully realize the depth of our need for our loving God. Where can I go to quench this thirst, our verse asks? We find our answer at the cross of Jesus Christ.

May this Lenten season be a time to meet God where he meets us. With arms stretched open on a brutal cross, we find our God meeting our need for a Savior and quenching the thirst that only God can fulfill.

The living God is with you, providing all that you need. Meet with God, thirst for God, and find rest, friend.
