Lent Devotion | Day 19

Psalm 27:14 (NIV)
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

WAIT??? So much of our lives are spent waiting. Sometimes we are waiting for happy things like birthdays or promotions, but sometimes we are waiting for difficult medical news or peace that doesn’t even seem reachable.

Waiting is hard—it requires us to stop and admit that we aren’t in control. But, if we are honest, we can admit that waiting is often the time when God gets our attention. When we learn to patiently wait on the Lord, he provides clarity. He is at work to transform us to look more like Jesus. Only God can bring peace, joy and love in our chaos.

Waiting is our invitation to trust, and it creates space for us to learn more about who God is and provides the grace necessary for the Spirit of God to bolster us and to build the strength of character we need for the next part of our journey with him.

Lord, help us wait patiently with you through this Lenten season--draw us near to you as we desire to trust you with our whole hearts.
