Lent Devotion | Day 23

Psalm 33:20-22 (NIV)

We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.

All of Psalm 33 is a beautiful hymn of praise for the wonderful ways in which the creative power of God expresses itself in the world. And today’s passage specifically reminds us that God’s power is always available to us as the Lord of our being, and no other source will solve any of our challenges. 

We understand “the Lord” to be Jesus, who is the creative power of God that is the true identity of each of us. This Lent season, turn to Jesus alone, and not to any other outside forces. This is the only way to be triumphant in all of life's challenges.

Wait patiently on the Lord. He knows what you need and he will deliver you.

Trust in the Lord. He is faithful and will not forsake you.

Place all your hope on his promises, which he will never break.
